This restaurant has been around a long time and remains a firm favourite with locals and those tourists lucky enough to discover it. The reasons why are simple enough. The owners steer clear of the pile ‘em high and serve ‘em cheap mentality, instead concentrating on creative cooking using the finest ingredients. The extensive menu covers seafood and meat and the night we visited included baby shark.
Dishes are likely to include fragrant herbs, ginger and spices less common at other restaurants, as you might expect at a restaurant called ‘Star Anise’. The atmosphere is cheery without being boisterous, so suitable for a lively or romantic dinner, with prices and quality that will impress your beloved for your refined taste rather than your willingness to blow money. Highly recommended.
